![]() ![]() While it is perfectly correct to teach a pilot how to fly 'normally', what is as important is teaching the pilot what to do when it goes wrong as life sadly is not a 100% business. One of the most dangerous part of any flight is the landing and approach, as you slow down during the approach the aircraft is getting nearer the stall yet it is one of the busiest times for any pilot, a momentary loss of awarness regarding airspeed and a dangerous loss of speed can occur followed by a spin. While many training aircraft are chosen for their very gentle handling characteristics with plenty of warning before the stall, the more advanced aircraft you fly later in your career may not be so forgiving. ![]() Learning how to safely enter and recover from a fully developed spin gives you the skill to recognise how close you are to a spin and what is about to happen if you don't take preventative measures. Understanding and experiencing the full process gives you a far clearer picture and embeds in the mind the rapid loss of height that occurs in a spin and the impossibility of recovery at low altitude. Its also a lot of fun
